Every time she tells the same story she tells it differently
I OPEN SOME TIME, as part of Glasgow International 2016, Gallery Unit, The Savoy Centre, Glasgow
young, fresh and powerful collaboration began in 2014 after we spent time in Barlinnie Prison. Mixing contemporary art with gossip, narratives and developing ambitious structures for an ongoing dialogue of socially charged approaches to making art within the public sphere.
Together, we undertook a 3 month open artist studio residency within The Savoy Centre. This lead to the opening of a small non profit gallery space in 2014 that is dedicated to generating a multifunctional and flexible showing environment, curated on a monthly basis.
Gallery Unit (a.k.a G-UNIT) has held various workshops, performances, artist lead discussions, mural make overs, film screenings, social gatherings and a space for open critical thought.
The collaboration are now temporarily parted by location and distance but not ideas and communication, and see the collaboration as an artist criticism as well as a collaborative art practice.
The performance to camera work Every time she tells the same story she tells it different was origninaly shown at Glasgow International Festival 2016, and went on to become a live performance in a collaborative event at The Old Hairdressers, Glasgow, TOGET-HERR
